tumblr gets the unfinished garbage that I don’t post on my other social media sorry
some practice, thinking about ambient light
I think my portraiture has improved even though I don’t draw people very often anymore. :)

Two and a half years of progress :’)

some incomplete self portraits from memory
I watched a bunch of the sinnix Anatomy Quick Tips videos and then did my best sketching and picking out colors without any photos.
likenesses are hard, next time I’ll use a photograph
haha, it’s amazing how some little tweaks after a good night’s sleep can get you so much closer to what you were trying to do.
sometimes when I’m not sure how to start a project I do these ugly color thumbs. I’d like to make a series of little terrariums from different large-scale environments! Maybe a deep green forest and a little pink desert etc. I had to figure out the glass first, it’s been a long time.
felt stuck today so I did some speedy studies of some illustrators I like (please find them online and follow them)

thank you!
1.) Show something you drew a long time ago that at the time you were proud of.
HAHA, I went really far back for these!! Both of these were made before I had ever thought about art professionally. On the left, a drawing of a lady knight (I have always and will always love lady knights), this was maybe the very first time I even thought about the word “portfolio”. Even though I stick to environments these days, I have learned a lot about anatomy since drawing this. On the right, a small mural I painted on the wall of my grandma’s new flower shop! Yikes!!!!!
2.) Favorite snack?
I have a lot of dietary restrictions, but I’ve been developing a much better relationship with healthy food! Nourishing your body with lots of fruits and vegetables is a new level of self love, maaan. Also my room mates think it’s funny when I just, cronch right in to them on the couch.
3.) What’s the biggest mistake you make that impacts your art/drawing process?
Answered here!

thanks Josh!
1.) Guilty pleasure?
I try not to be too guilty about anything that brings my pleasure, but I do like fantasy novels I know are kinda objectively bad, and really really huge iced coffees. I wish I had the self-awareness to answer this questions better!
2.) What’s the biggest mistake you make that impacts your art/drawing process?
I don’t front load my pipeline enough! When I spend more time planning out a piece and going through the steps with thumbnails and color compositions my art ALWAYS turns out miles better. I think this is really the difference between being an amateur and a professional.
3.) What’s something you collect?
I practice minimalism so I try to not collect many physical objects that I don’t use every day, that being said I have a bunch of makeup. I LOVE colors; makeup is just paint you slap on your face and that’s, amazing?? I also looked around and found a big folder of pictures of super dumb outfits that I think are great and funny. Grunge is a very charming style to me!

thank you!! ‘u’
1.) What do you suggest to beginner artists in terms of work ethic?
If you want to make art but you’re not making art, you’re probably not lazy or dispassionate. If you’re like me, you’re scared of failure! If perfectionism immobilizes you, make! bad! art! It’s a great exercise and it gets you going.
2.) Soft shading or cell shading?
Cell shading every day!! In ~real~ paintings I try to use a healthy mix of soft and hard lines. It depends on the material!
3.) Do you have OCs? If so, which is your favorite?
Haha, I make a lot of rocks.
